Somethings you have to go one step back in order to go two steps forward.

1-forward-2-backThings are going along nicely for a change. You’ve had a revelation. You’ve reached an epiphany and suddenly things are flow and life is good. It can only get better from here on in.

Then suddenly, without warning, you find yourself back at square one. Things feel just as bad, if not worse, and you fall into despair because you were doing so well… and now you’re not.

That anger that you felt you had gotten past before and has allowed you to move on is back in full force and you even feel angrier than before.

Or it might be some trauma, or fear, or resentment, or lack of self-confidence.

Sound familiar?

What happened?

This is a very common scenario, especially for those on the spiritual path. For them it’s 2 steps forward and 1 step back. It’s very frustrating and most don’t really understand what is going on.

So let’s look at what is really happening.

There will indeed be times when we feel like we’re making headway. We are moving forward so fast and feeling so amazing that we feeling that nothing can stop us.

Then we hit that wall. Ouch! Why?

If we’ve faced and conquered our demons, so to speak, then why are they back?

The truth is, you haven’t conquered them fully. You’ve just dealt with one aspect of them. It’s allowed you to reach a new understanding, but there is still more work to do. You may revisit the same thing over and over, each time chipping away at another piece of it until finally you have removed the entire block, and are really ready to move onto new things.

This is normal. It’s not always possible to deal with something in its entirety, especially if it’s deep, long term and part of your belief system.

You have to take it in stages. You have to look at it from different angles, and each stage can feel almost the same, but there are subtle differences.

Or if it is the same, then you’ve not retained what you learned, and you need to have a refresher in what you needed to know.

Life is a process. We can move forwards and backward at the same time, and sometimes you need to move backwards in order go forward.

Remember, if something isn’t there within you to begin with, you wouldn’t be facing it. So you need to deal with it according to your abilities so you can heal it.

Healing can take a long time. There is no time limit to how long it may take. Some feel embarrassed about having the same issues come up over and over again. They may feel like a broken record, but that’s just how it goes. Eventually, if you keep at it, you will heal and get past those things that hold you back.

The problem is that most people get discouraged and give up. They forget how much progress they actually made.

This is the worst thing you can do, though. Giving up will never get you to where you desire to be.

Yes, it can be painful, and yes, you may feel like you’ll never get there, but this I promise you. Keep at it, and you will succeed. Things will shift around for you to make it happen.

Life is a process of creation. You are the creator. Trust in the flow and know that you can’t help but get there in the end, no matter how bad things seem right now.

Do not fear the darkness… thank it instead.

light and darkThere’s a parable by Neale Donald Walsch called The Little Soul and the Sun. There are two parts to this tale. In a nutshell, the story is about a soul who wanted to know who he was., but because all there was, was light, and all he was, was light, he could not do this.
It begins:

There once was a soul who knew itself to be the light. This was a new soul, and so, anxious for experience. “I am the light,” it said. “I am the light.” Yet all the knowing of it and all the saying of it could not substitute for the experience of it. And in the realm from which this soul emerged, there was nothing but the light. Every soul was grand, every soul was magnificent, and every soul shone with the brilliance of God’s awesome light. And so the little soul in question was as a candle in the sun. In the midst of the grandest light — of which it was a part — it could not see itself, nor experience itself as Who and What it Really Is.

And then goes on to explain that in order for the soul to know itself, it must separate itself from all that is and call upon the darkness so it may know its own light and experience who he or she really is.

But in order for that soul aspect to know itself as light, someone had to play the part of being the darkness.

In this story, the soul wished to experience forgiveness, but as there was no one to forgive; someone had to play that part.

Another soul offered: “I will come into your next physical lifetime and do something for you to forgive. I ask only one thing in return,”

“Anything! Anything!” the Little Soul cried.

“In the moment that I strike you and smite you, in the moment that I do the worst to you that you could ever imagine – in that self-same moment…remember Who I Really Am.”

“Oh, I won’t forget!” promised the Little Soul. “I will see you in the perfection with which I hold you now, and I will remember Who You Are, always.”

This story illustrates perfectly why we have darkness. Why there are demons, and why people attack and hurt us.

And while many people do indeed seem to understand that all we do is because we have created it on some level, and that is our free will in action, they seem to forget the very thing they need to remember.

The ones who are dark are dark because without them, we could not experience our own light.

Far too often, I see people condemning demons, so called evil, people who have wronged them and cursing them to Hell (or whatever place they feel is punishing enough. )

Far too often people insist that there is no help for those being and they are not worthy or their time, their healing, or even their love or blessings.

But is this really what we should be doing? So called negative beings don’t remember who they really are. Perhaps they have chosen a part where, by necessity, they cannot have any connection to the light. No matter what is done, they will always be of the dark because that is what is required. And they will remain so until they eventually return, with the rest, to source.

People seem to take great pride in condemning that which they consider to be dark. They simply love to hate and detest anything that doesn’t meet their own personal standards.

But condemning the dark is as useless as condemning the night. Everything is there for a reason. It wouldn’t exist otherwise.

I can’t help but wonder how horrible it would be to be hated by everyone, attacked and detested just for being.

Personally, I feel we should bless the darkness. Thank them for their gift and even their sacrifice. Those who have even experienced a little of what it’s like to not have light in your life should understand what it is like to be like them.

They may not remember who they are. They may never be able to in this realm, but that doesn’t mean we should forget, either.

And while you may not agree or condone their actions, always come from a place of love, rather than hate or fear.

Someone has to play the bad guy. Perhaps one day it may be you.

Healing Depression Series: Bach Flower Remedies (BFR) – Are they a placebo? part 5 or if I fooled myself, I did a great job.

my new kit!

Are they a placebo? Part 5

As I have mentioned, I had suffered from depression for most of my life. While I had overcome most types, I had reached a point where Clinical Depression was slowly destroying me, and my life.

Every little thing, no matter how small, or imagined, would send me spiralling into a dark pit and those around me at the time, didn’t have much patience for that. (It suffices to say, those people are no longer in my life).

I kept on trying different remedies, but nothing worked. It wasn’t until, one day, during a particularly bad episode, that I, in desperation, took some Rescue Remedy, and noticed that I felt a slight relief. Not enough to make a difference, but enough to make me take notice.

I ran though the remedies that were part of it, over in my mind, and felt that the only one it could have been was Star of Bethlehem, the remedy for clearing shock and trauma.

As it was, that was one remedy that I had barely used. I just assumed that, because it was already part of the Rescue Remedy, I wouldn’t need it on its own.

So I took it, and after one dose, it felt like a heavy weight was lifted of my soul. The depression suddenly lifted, and I felt amazing.

I had to keep on taking the remedy every few minutes, because the depression would begin to return, but would always lift every time I took it.

Soon, the intervals changed from minutes, to hours, to a few times a day, and then about 5 days later, I didn’t need to take it anymore.

The point behind this story is that if they were a placebo, then any remedy would have worked, when I felt I was taking the right ones. As it was, they didn’t. I had misdiagnosed the cause, and I kept on doing so.

It wasn’t until I hit the right one that it suddenly shifted everything.

In actual fact, if I was susceptible to placebos, I would have saved myself a lot of money, because everything would work. For me, though, most things don’t.

Still, having said all this, the easiest way to prove that they work is with the Rescue Cream. This is a cream that has all five remedies of the Rescue Remedy in it, plus a sixth one, which is Crab Apple, which is the cleansing remedy.

From time to time, I burn myself, and putting the Rescue Cream will quickly stop the pain. My ex-partner once got a second degree oil burn while cooking. We put the cream on the burn. The pain had stopped a few minutes later, and the burn healed within a few days, leaving no marks or scaring.

My partner’s daughter also would use the cream when she got burnt. Once she missed a spot, and noticed that while the pain around it had stopped, the area that was untreated still burned. Once she applied the cream, it stopped.

Now, the base cream itself, without the remedies, was chosen because it’s allergy free and non-greasy.

So, it’s safe to suggest that the cream by itself does not have the power to heal burns.

The only things added to the cream are those six remedies. If they didn’t work, then nothing would happen when treating the burn. In fact, most doctors recommend against putting cream on a burn.

Simply put: If they were a placebo, it just wouldn’t heal or do anything.

Others have reported that it brings relief with sunburn. I stay out of the sun, so I can’t verify this.

I’ve also used it when my legs itch so badly that even hot water doesn’t help. (Hot water always stops itching for me).  I used the cream, and the itching stopped immediately.

I’ve also heard that the BFR’s works well for plants. I’ve not tried this, but if anyone does, let me know how that goes.

I’ve also had many reports that children, who have had accidents, especially traumatic ones, recover within minutes when the Rescue Remedy is administered.

In my opinion, the remedy and cream should be in the first aid kit of every house.

Healing Depression Series: Bach Flower Remedies (BFR) – Are they a placebo? part 4 or do animals know the difference between placebo and the real thing?

Are they a placebo? Part 4

Over the years, I have used the remedies with great success, which would pretty much suggest that they are not a placebo.

I thought I’d share some compelling examples.

One day, my mother’s two year old dog suddenly collapsed and went limp for no apparent reason.  She carried her into the bedroom where he lay listless on the bed.

I decided to give her four drops of Rescue Remedy, so I placed it in his mouth, and watched as she smacked her lips, and then fell into a deep sleep.

A couple of hours later, she woke up, and I gave her four more drops. She repeated the exact same smacking noise, and once again fell into a deep sleep.

When she woke up the third time, she was perfect fine, as though nothing had been wrong.

Now, I’m not a vet, and I can’t say what was wrong, or if she was going to get better on her own, but I have no doubt that those four drops sent her to a healing sleep.  With the little I know about dogs, it would appear that dogs do go limp right before they die. Once again, it is speculation on if this would have happened, but healing certainly took place.

Another time, I came across a possum that was injured on the foot path. He or she as the case may be,  was barely moving, and didn’t look all that healthy.  As I carry a bottle of Rescue Remedy on me, I gave him a few drops.  He seemed to recover within a minute, and was quickly gone.

I have used the Bach Flower Remedies on other animals and have had good results.

It’s reasonable to suggest that animals are not subject to the placebo effect.

Healing Depression Series: Bach Flower Remedies (BFR) – Are they a placebo? part 2 or why didn’t this remedy for terror heal my anger?

Rescue Remedy

Are they a placebo? Part 2

Because  they are so small, I would carry around a bottle of Rescue Remedy in my pocket, and keep a tube of Rescue Cream at work. A practice that has continued to this day.

There were many departments no my floor, and across from me, there was a young lady who was complaining about her knees, and how, for years, she had problems with them hurting. I suggested she put some Rescue Cream on them, and she agreed to try.

A few weeks later, she came up to me and said that ever since she used the cream, she had not experienced any more pain and said it was amazing stuff.

Word quickly spread around my floor about the remedies, and by the time I left that place, a couple of years later, at least half the staff were using Rescue Remedy and Cream, and swearing by it.

I have had similar results elsewhere, too. Those who follow my suggestions, in spite of them being doubtful, come back with amazing stories, especially when they use it on their families.

And nearly everyone starts off doubtful, that is, until they try them.

But are they a placebo? Is this all the power of suggestion?

Trials have been done on the remedies which suggest as much.

However, just looking at one of the trials, all that was used was Rescue Remedy, which, as it goes, is wonderful in an emergency, but considering that it only uses five of the 38 remedies available (six in the Rescue Cream) , it is hardly a cure-all.

Furthermore the fact that five remedies are mixed into one bottle dilute their healing potency.  This is a very important fact to be aware of, and it amazes me that no one has ever mentioned it or even considered it. (At least no one I’ve found.)

In order to successfully conduct trials, you first need to understand, not only what each remedy does, but what remedy the subject actually needs.

Let’s say that someone is depressed and a double blind test is done to see if the remedies work, administering Rescue Remedy is quite unlikely to work.

If the cause of depression is guilt, then there’s nothing in the Rescue Remedy that will help the subject.

To break it down, as stated, there are five remedies mixed into the Rescue Remedy.

Cherry Plum (for fear of letting go)

Star of Bethlehem ( Shock / Trauma)

Clematis (dreamy / unconscious)

Rock Rose (fear / terror)

Impatiens (Impatience / in a hurry)

As you can see, there is nothing in there that would deal with guilt. For that, Pine would be the appropriate remedy.

In actual fact, Rescue Remedy is very limited in its use. Make no mistake, it is wonderful in an emergency, and I’ve seen miraculous results, especially on animals, but if you’re going to test it to treat specific conditions, you would first need to identify the cause of the condition, and then ensure you are using the right remedy.

Otherwise, nothing will happen.

Next: Why nothing will happen

Depression series – Diet (part 2) or I am what energies I eat.

Diet – part 2

Here are more suggestions of how food may contribute to depression, and avoiding it.

Avoid an excess of alcohol.

Apart from it not being good for health reasons, an empath can become severely depressed by being tipsy or drunk. It also might leave you more vulnerable to outside astral influences.

Balance your alkaline / acidic intake.

It is suggested that a 60% alkaline / 40% acidic balance should be the right balance for PH values.

Drink fresh fruit juice

Drink water with a few drops of lemon squeezed into it.

While I’m not a dietician, I do believe that empaths tend to ingest
the energy of foods they eat. Some foods have no real substance.

Avoid foods that might carry negative energy.
Food does carry its own type of energy. ..

I believe there are at least two energies it carries.
•       It’s natural resonance
•       Resonance that has been transferred into it.

Energy will tend to take on an external physical form and what you see is a representation of the energy within. The natural resonance of food is something that typifies the energies that will be passed into our bodies when we eat them.

Certain foods work better for you, depending on what you need.

When I look at food, I can sense if it will add anything good or negative to my energies.

Some things just don’t feel right for the body’s current energy need when you run them
past your intuition and some feel just right, though mostly in moderation.

An empath is very much susceptible to the energy of things, and this includes foods. When you eat something, you are ingesting the energy into your body and it becomes part of you.

Eating something that isn’t harmonic to you can throw you out of balance and effect how you feel.

Food that has been touched by others can transfer their emotions or vibrations into it. That might be anything from fear, anger, annoyance, tedium, frustration, love, etc, etc. When we eat something, we take those properties into our bodies.

Another factor to consider is how livestock is bred and if fear or discontentment, etc, has become part of who they were. When we eat these things, we may well be taking those things into our energy fields.

Naturally, you can’t avoid everything that might be tainted, but it certainly wouldn’t be a bad idea to try and buy things that have been humanely prepared. Also, as you don’t know the mood of the person who has prepared your food, it makes it a difficult task to know exactly what you might eat.

However, there is a simple solution which I believe would be quite effective.

Before you eat anything, bless your food.

Put your hand over whatever you’re about to eat and send positive energy and love to it and ask that all negative energies be  transmuted or replaced. It only need take a few seconds, but it may make a world of difference.

Before you decide what you want to eat, run your mind through the options and ask yourself if this is going to help you cope or not. Easier said than done, I know. Sometimes we just need ‘comfort’ food, but more often than not, we later regret it. We eat things that we don’t even want at the time, but feel we need something to get us through that moment.

Eat in moderation. Balance is certainly a key here.

When stressed or depression, we do tend to eat more and tend to seek out food that is tasty but not good for us,  but it only helps in the moment, and rarely beyond it.

Most of this information is obvious. Still, it doesn’t hurt to remind ourselves of it.

I really  think there is an industry out there for Empath friendly food.

Know an empath? Why not tell them they are one?

There’s a lot to be said about empaths. There are so many about, and it seems that many don’t even know they are one.

I have to wonder about how much difference it would make to this world is all the empaths were self-realized.

Imagine, for a moment, that there is someone you know who is clearly sensitive.

They hurt when others hurt.

See things that many can’t.

Suffer from depression for no known reasons.

Knows when you are down, and what you need.

And they just feel the pain of this world and take it on themselves.

So many people are like that and they believe they are crazy. Others tell them they are over sensitive. (As though, they can turn a knob and adjust how they feel!)

And yet, if someone said to them, you might well be an Empath, you should look into it, you might have not only changed someone’s life, but they might have even saved one.

There is now a lot of information out there on what an Empath is, what to do, and how to cope. This blog is dedicated to getting that information out there.

If you are an empath, you will sense other empaths. You will just know when you meet one. You might even sense it from their photo, their voice or just the energy you get over the phone or the net.

Let them know who they are and ask them to do the same for other empaths they know.

Eventually, there will be a critical point where Empahy will not only be accepted as normal, but embraced, and, dare I say it, a blessing and a joy to this world.

And yes, there is always the chance you might be ignored, you might feel you’ve made a mistake, and you might feel foolish or awkward.

But don’t let fear stop you from changing a life. You could be the one to change someone’s life for the better, and heal not only them, but future generations.

If you know someone who’s an Empath. Tell them.
