From time to time, I’ve pondered whether we have the ability, as empaths, to send out energy and change how people feel, or even affect the outcome of a situation.
I’ve always been slightly ambivalent about if we really do have that kind of power, in spite of the many instances I’ve experienced that seems we do.
There have been many occasions where people, who are greatly panicked or even in terror, calm immediately down and feel great reassurance when they speak to me.
As far as I’m aware, I don’t actually do anything different, but none the less, they experience this time and time again.
Are we capable of sending energy without meaning to?
Back in 1991, I visited the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, New South Wales. I came across a device that measured your body’s electrical flow. It worked by putting your hands on two metal pads. A meter showed what the current was.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall the name of the device, so my terminology might well be wrong. However, what I found was that if I focused my thoughts to raising the needle, I found that I could move it very high.
By the power of my mind, I was able to direct energy to my hands and adjust the needle at will. The results were clearly and repeatedly shown.
It does seem that, as Empaths (and even non Empaths) we can send control our internal energies and it may follow that we can send certain energies at will.
I’ve found that if I send loving healing thoughts to crying babies, they calm down instantly.
Animals, insects and arachnids seem to respond, too.
Recently, there, was an interesting example. We allow our 14 and a half year old Doberman to sleep with us. Normally, he’ll sense if there’s something negative around us, especially after we turn off the light.
He will make a weird yelp for no apparent reason, and my partner will have me burn sage to clear the energy.
That night, though, I was too tired to get up and do this, so I send my energy to clear the area and also pacify our dog. Next thing I knew, he was snuggling against me, as close as he could get, and did not stop until around 4 a.m.
As this is certainly not typical behaviour from our dog, I can only surmise that he was picking up on my energy, and wanted more of it.
I often wonder just how much out activities influence what is around us. Last night for example, I decided to do some searching on YouTube for any genuine haunting and came across a documentary on the infamous Sallie House. Said to be one of the most haunted places in the world.
Our dog, who normally just lies on the couch sleeping, came up and kept on putting his face on my legs within minutes of me watching. Soon after, he starts giving a weird yelp at the fire place.
I decided to cleanse the area with Sage, and he settled back to normal.
Do we underestimate just how much impact our thoughts and actions have around us? Are we more powerful than we give ourselves credit for?
Some food for thought.
Many of us have heard of the twin soul and many more are in search of theirs.
But what exactly is a twin soul? It is said to be the other half of your soul aspect. Whereas you’ve incarnated as a male or female (or maybe both or neither!) the other half is the other part of who you are.
As a general rule, and from my observations, it’s actually very rare for both soul aspects to be born at the same time.
However, it wouldn’t be unusual to mistake a soul mate as a twin soul.
In theory, finding the other half of your soul essence sounds like a wonderful thing to happen to you. It would make you feel complete and you would be in harmony with the other person’s ideas and desires.
That’s the fantasy.
The reality is a little different, though.
Should you come across your literal other half, it will feel like two magnets pulling each other together. There will most likely be sexual energy on a very intense level, and it will be very hard to resist, even if you’re already in a relationship.
Now, I can’t speak for others of course, but I can speak for myself, and the experiences I’ve had in regards to this.
I don’t normally share this story, but I figured what the hey: I’m trying to illustrate a point here.
My twin soul hasn’t actually incarnated at this time that I’m aware of, but it would seem that she has been using Avatars: That is, women who carry her energies.
I first noticed this around the year 2000, where I met someone, who happened to be local and felt this crazy energy connection with her. On top of that, she looked amazing and was irresistibly beautiful. Being married at the time, she was very hard to resist, but I can claim to have resisted. Interesting enough, someone had told her that we had been brother and sister in a past life. In any case, I stopped seeing her as a friend, and we drifted apart.
The same thing occurred a couple of years later, where this lady I knew online made the same energetic connections with me. It didn’t matter that she was in a different country, the pull was just as strong, and was just as hard to resist. Also, the same intense physical attraction was there, too.
At the time, she claimed she loved me so much that it hurt, but as I still married (in spite of my relationship being on the outs by then) I didn’t feel it was right to do anything.
What was interesting about this case, though, was soon after, she told me that what was causing her intense feeling was that an insane spirit that loved me had attached herself to her, and using her to get to me. With the help of one of her psychic friends, she had managed to remove it, and the feeling left her.
I shrugged, thought nothing of it, and carried on. We did try to see if there was a chance for a relationship after I separated, but it didn’t work out as she become almost psychotic in nature and seemed to drain my energies.
Then a year later, another lady appeared who I was drawn to in the same way. Except she was in a relationship she felt she had to deal with, and said she couldn’t talk to me because a connection formed that her partner would feel and call her on.
She was adamant, though, she had been my sister in a past life and we had children together.
The same type of thing happened three more times, and curiously enough, it was right after I met my current partner. Same pull, same attraction, same energies
I thought to myself, okay, I’m not that good looking and this is too good to be true. Something is clearly going on here.
However, it wasn’t until 2012 that I finally understood what.

From time to time, I get asked the question on how to open or close your chakras. I know the basics behind it but I’ve never had the fuller understanding or energy to explain it in full.

My name is Nattie and Gary has asked me to do a guest blog on closing and controlling your chakras. I would like to thank Gary very much for this opportunity to guest post on such an amazing blog.
It doesn’t really matter whether you have become empathic (or developed other abilities) because you have consciously started an awakening or because somehow your brow chakra opened up with out your conscious help. At first we are all a bit the same. Lost. It can be great to discover an ability with-in yourself that is not commonly used. That is until it starts to intrude rudely on your life and leaves you feeling exposed to things you feel are out of your control.
Your brow, or third eye chakra may open as a defense mechanism because you need it to and this may become permanent, or it may last for as long as you need it and then close by itself. If activated as a child it will usually stay open but if activated for the first time an adult, it will very likely go back to it’s default state and re-close.
Now maybe you opened it on purpose with many of the helpful articles written on the subject of opening. But I must admit, that until recently I was just as guilty of the common problem of leaving the closing and controlling part out. It’s because we don’t know.
Being empathic especially can be a very intrusive ability if you are walking around ‘on’ all the time. Any ability will eventually wear you out if you can’t turn it off. The effects that follow can lead to depression and anxiety. The good news is you can turn them off.
Now when I say turn them off I do mean your chakras but I don’t mean off. Your Chakras are always on even if they work only in a limited capacity. But when you turn them off you are stopping them from receiving outside energies. It is in fact possible to keep them on and just limit what energy is allowed to come through.
We will work on control in a minute. First, closing. If you opened up consciously you will be familiar with the visualizations used to do so. Closing involves visualizing the opposite. Choose an appropriate representation of your chakras e.g. a light or flower are common.
Now opening the flower or turning on the light will turn them on, closing the flower or switching off the light turns them off. I bring my visualizations down to a pinpoint of light to remind me they are always on. Just like with switching on you want to start at the top or bottom and visualize them one at a time turning off.
All or Nothing
It is important that you deal with all your chakras, one at a time. Whilst our connection with others and the source of most of our abilities comes from that third eye chakra, each ability may use other chakras in the process. Channeling also uses the crown chakra (Crown = I understand), I will take an educated guess in saying that the corresponding chakra for empathy will be your Sacral chakra. (Sacral = I feel.) This is is the orange Chakra just below your navel and is also the source of your ‘gut’ feelings.
If just one of your main chakras is blocked or inhibited, the energy flow will be obstructed and the imbalance will result in too much of something and/or not enough of another. You can help to repair them by drawing white light into them from the earth upwards and/or the universe downwards. See what feels right for you.
Another way to tell what chakras need help and another way to help them is through colors. For years when my brow chakra was shut I was drawn to my favorite color at the time which was indigo. Usually a bright form of dark blue for me. Surrounding yourself with the color of the chakra you would like to heal or open will help. Wear the color and put it around your office and home until you feel your chakra is healed then remove it. Too much will have the opposite effect, opening the chakra and making it hard to shut down, overloading it.
Usually when you are protecting yourself you will surround your self in a bubble of white light. This will help on a larger scale but you can do this to each of your chakras too. Either surround it in a bubble of white light or imagine it is aglow with white light. Then just like you would specify that only positive energy may come through your bubble, you do the same for the chakra. One at a time protect them and specify that only positive energy may enter this chakra as it is protected by light.
Once you have done this you can also direct where you would like to receive your energy from. This is done with thought. You concentrate on the source of the energy you want to receive as in the person or entity. When you are done close them again. The more you do this the better you will become and the more effective it will be. Don’t give up if it is hard or only minimally effective at first.
When you first start to use visualizations, they will be weak and hard to project. The more you do it the easier it will become, the more vivid they will be and the more effective and powerful they will be in the non-physical realm. Any visualizations you use will help to develop this ability and you will find it invaluable in work with energy and the non-physical. Good luck and have fun.
There are a number of ways you can balk psychic attacks, though they have varying success rates.
Bach Flower Remedies:
For stopping psychic attacks, this is my one stop shop. If you can identify where the attack is targeting, then taking the appropriate remedy will stop it.
The usual culprits are guilt, self-doubt, known fears, lack of faith, being overwhelmed, and, I guess, any of the 38 states of being.

It is claimed that crystals can help ward of attacks. I don’t know much about them, as it goes, but I did try using them at one point. I did not seem to gain any benefits.
I think they need to be awakened, and attuned to you in order for them to work.
Here are some crystals that are said to aid you against psychic attacks.
Carrollite: This mineral can be useful for providing grounding of each chakras; it can also facilitate the closure of the chakras, allowing for protection of the self against psychic attacks.
Chlorite: Forms of chlorite have been used with amethyst to remove unwanted energy implants; the presence of chlorite and amethyst within ones energy field has also successfully protected against both energy implants and psychic attack.
Limonite: It provides for the strength and virility of youth, enhancing the substance of ones character and providing an ‘iron hat’ for protection against detrimental thoughts, impaired clarity, and psychic attacks. It also furthers accuracy in the intuitive processes.
Ruby: It is an excellent shielding stone, protecting on all levels and safeguarding ones consciousness from psychic attack.
If you use the stones, remember to awaken, energize and connect with them.
Creating a white, luminous five pointed star.
This star should have a point corresponding to your head, both hands and both feet. You should mentally draw it. It is said that once you are inside a five pointed star, nothing but nothing can touch you that is bad as it is an elemental of protection.
The reason it should work is that we are able to create elemental forms or thought forms just be thinking about them. Thoughts are real energy and whatever you think will add to a pool of energy. By creating these things in your mind, you really are creating something that will protect you. The more you do it, the stronger it will become.
It’s really important to note that the key to any type of shielding, including white light auras, is to create the shield with thoughts of love, peace, compassion and blessing.
This will repel anything that is unlike that energy. Keep fear and anger, etc, out of your thoughts. It will not aid you.
There is, however, a stream of thought that by creating a shield, you also attract the things that attack you. This is because you are setting intentions to be protected, so you, by default, call things to you to be protected against.
I, personally, try to drop shields, and just be the highest light I can, using who I am to try and heal what is around me.

When you talk of setting boundaries, does it work with something like plants? Do all psychic empaths feel the vibrations from plants? Like they perhaps do from animals?
I’m not into nature worship or wiccan rituals etc. etc. However, I had a huge tree for a friend when young but after someone came and cut it down, I was too traumatised to have a friend that ‘died’ so easily and could do nothing to protect itself despite its size. I stuck to humans after that, often with disastrous consequences. I’m usually fairly oblivious to the vibrations from trees and plants. I don’t pay attention to them (the vibrations). However, recently, one night, I came down with a strange heaviness across my back and shoulders, which seemed to weigh steadily, steadfastly. I could not find a reason for this pain, which was very peculiar, sort of diagonal in its spread. Early next morning, during my walk in the park, my body was pulled in a particular direction where I saw a slightly delicate plant almost flattened out by a thick branch of a big tree around it, which had fallen on it, diagonally. The pain in my back and shoulders grew as I walked around the place. It got unbearable and I sensed that it sort of reached me from the plant that now lay almost prostrated. I managed to get rid of the heavy branch with some help, restored the smaller tree to some of its normal posture and gradually the pain in my back and across my shoulders eased off. Within an hour it was gone. I’m glad i was able to help out ‘a tree in need’ but one needs to have boundaries or there would be too much of an encroachment upon oneself with physical manifestations in terms of some illness or the other. Any thoughts on this?
In my experience and studies, I find that plants and animals are very different in energy to people. For those who are sensitive, they can see the energies around trees, flowers, etc, and for those who are seers, they can sense and see what we call nature spirits, and what others call fairies, etc.
Are they real? You bet your bottom dollar they are.
The main difference between the human collective consciousness and that of nature’s collective consciousness is that they are very much aware of their oneness with all. Nature has a voice, and much wisdom is there for those who are capable of hearing.
As bizarre as this might sound (and without seeing your photo), some people are nature spirits incarnated into human bodies.
If you sense a resonance with trees and plants, chances are you are connected in some way to those levels or to the Gaia energy.
You are clearly very sensitive when it comes to nature energy. Having a tree for a friend is not something too many have as a child in my experience. Also, you are extremely psychic, which tends to be another sign.
While nature can look after itself quite nicely, it does call for help. Though its destiny cannot be perverted or prevented, it does seem it calls on others to assist from time to time.
Personally, I feel this was a wakeup call for you. It was to make you aware of your connection to nature. Boundaries certainly can be set, and you can ask to be left alone, but I don’t feel this is what you should do in this case.
There is another world out there… an amazing and powerful world of wisdom, healing and evolution. If you can re-connect to it, it can be a great blessing in your life, though also be aware that it can increase the sense of isolation from being human.
An excellent series of books on this topic has been written by Michael J Roads. It might well be worthwhile looking him up.
Just remember, just as nature can draw on your help and energy, it can also give you energy, and healing, and a sense of peace and oneness.

Diet – part 2
Here are more suggestions of how food may contribute to depression, and avoiding it.
Avoid an excess of alcohol.
Apart from it not being good for health reasons, an empath can become severely depressed by being tipsy or drunk. It also might leave you more vulnerable to outside astral influences.
Balance your alkaline / acidic intake.
It is suggested that a 60% alkaline / 40% acidic balance should be the right balance for PH values.
Drink fresh fruit juice
Drink water with a few drops of lemon squeezed into it.
While I’m not a dietician, I do believe that empaths tend to ingest
the energy of foods they eat. Some foods have no real substance.
Avoid foods that might carry negative energy.
Food does carry its own type of energy. ..
I believe there are at least two energies it carries.
• It’s natural resonance
• Resonance that has been transferred into it.
Energy will tend to take on an external physical form and what you see is a representation of the energy within. The natural resonance of food is something that typifies the energies that will be passed into our bodies when we eat them.
Certain foods work better for you, depending on what you need.
When I look at food, I can sense if it will add anything good or negative to my energies.
Some things just don’t feel right for the body’s current energy need when you run them
past your intuition and some feel just right, though mostly in moderation.
An empath is very much susceptible to the energy of things, and this includes foods. When you eat something, you are ingesting the energy into your body and it becomes part of you.
Eating something that isn’t harmonic to you can throw you out of balance and effect how you feel.
Food that has been touched by others can transfer their emotions or vibrations into it. That might be anything from fear, anger, annoyance, tedium, frustration, love, etc, etc. When we eat something, we take those properties into our bodies.
Another factor to consider is how livestock is bred and if fear or discontentment, etc, has become part of who they were. When we eat these things, we may well be taking those things into our energy fields.
Naturally, you can’t avoid everything that might be tainted, but it certainly wouldn’t be a bad idea to try and buy things that have been humanely prepared. Also, as you don’t know the mood of the person who has prepared your food, it makes it a difficult task to know exactly what you might eat.
However, there is a simple solution which I believe would be quite effective.
Before you eat anything, bless your food.
Put your hand over whatever you’re about to eat and send positive energy and love to it and ask that all negative energies be transmuted or replaced. It only need take a few seconds, but it may make a world of difference.
Before you decide what you want to eat, run your mind through the options and ask yourself if this is going to help you cope or not. Easier said than done, I know. Sometimes we just need ‘comfort’ food, but more often than not, we later regret it. We eat things that we don’t even want at the time, but feel we need something to get us through that moment.
Eat in moderation. Balance is certainly a key here.
When stressed or depression, we do tend to eat more and tend to seek out food that is tasty but not good for us, but it only helps in the moment, and rarely beyond it.
Most of this information is obvious. Still, it doesn’t hurt to remind ourselves of it.
I really think there is an industry out there for Empath friendly food.
